It's Time For Band Camp!

We hope this letter finds you enjoying a wonderful summer. This is a very exciting time for us as we are getting ready for this year’s marching band show.

The primary purpose of this letter is to inform you about the camps that are coming up in the month of July. Please place this information on your calendars at home to avoid conflicts with rehearsals and performances. All rehearsals will take place at the Coffee High School Band Room.

The CHS Band Camps are designed to prepare the Band, Percussion, and Color Guard for fall athletic and competitive field shows. Our camps are also designed to train students in the skills of musical and visual performance, including outdoor Drum Corps-style precision marching.

Please understand that THESE CAMPS ARE MANDATORY for all students who wish to participate in fall performances. Students are expected to attend every day. If you have a conflict that requires special consideration, please contact Mr. Myers via email at steve.myers@coffee.k12.ga.us or call the band room at (912) 389-6584.       • 7:00am - 11:00am : Football Band
      • 5:00pm - 9:00pm : Competition Band (no Wednesday night camp)
  • July 31-Aug 3
    • Monday - Thursday
      • 7:00am - 11:00am : Football Band
      • 5:00pm - 9:00pm : Competition Band (no Wednesday night camp)
  • Aug 4
    • Friday
      • 3:00pm - 5:00pm : PICTURES
      • 5:00pm - 7:00pm : Booster Cookout

 

2017-18 Expenses

There is no charge for band camp. Water and other refreshments will be available for purchase at each rehearsal for $1.00 per bottle. Students may bring small insulated containers for individual use as desired but they must be on a strap.

Meals on each trip will be the responsibility of the students and funds will be checked before departure each event.

Due by the first day of band camp

Band Shirt (specific to this season) - $25.00

Due by the end of August

Uniform Rental (cleaning at end of season) - $25.00 (excludes auxiliary)

Bibbers (owned by student, includes hemming, should be a one time expense) - $50.00

Paid for before ordering

Shoes (if needed) - $30.00

 

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP:

  • All completed forms. (camp permission; medical; travel & release)
  • Comfortable tennis shoes and socks
    • no bare feet, no flip-flops, no sandals, no open-toed shoes
  • Shorts and t-shirts, similar clothing appropriate for being outdoors in the summer
    • Please note that we are not enforcing the strict school dress code, but be sure you are not drawing inappropriate attention to yourself because of what you’re wearing or what’s missing.. Be modest!
  • Sun screen / Insect repellant
  • Hats/visors
  • Money for drink/snack (via vending machines)
    • Bring change but don’t carry more than a few dollars at school in cash. You can loose it and we as supervisors of a large group can not be everywhere at the same time. Purses can be locked up in a locker if you’ll bring a pad lock. If you leave things unattended, you’re inviting a problem.
  • Pencil and Music Folder (provided)
  • Instruments/ Music/ Drill Charts (where applicable)
